Open Space | Rose Lane, Joel Contreras Design 2021

Inspired by Modernists homes built by Joseph Eichler, Joel Contreras from Joel Contreras Design was able to turn a traditional Ranch house into a Modern A-Frame home that still pays homage to the old home. Repurposing materials from the original home were important in the design process alongside bringing up the importance that not all homes need to be torn down. The use of space, materials and layout is something that needs to be experienced first hand to understand how everything blends so effortlessly. The home is present with soaring ceilings and flooded with natural light but yet it still feels warm and cozy. You can really feel how the indoor and outdoor spaces interact with each other seamlessly throughout the home. Sensitivity to Neighborhood, Scale. and being more preservation minded is something that Joel prides himself in when redesigning homes for clients.
